Vanguard - Oysters In The Half Shell EP (2011) Review

Helo, once again I'm here, bored like last time, so I decided to make this review of this amazing 4 track long EP by Welsh duo 'Vanguard' released on the label 'Work It Baby' in June of 2011!

The EP itself has a really funky vibe, making it sound like a mashup between the vibe of Fred Falke's track 'When I Look Into Your Eyes' and Vanguard's funky filtered synth-driven sound!

Gonna try my best to review all the 4 tracks now lool

Loving Someone Else:

First of all, the filtered chords featured in this track fit REALLY good with the vocal sample of Street Fare's song 'If The Phone Don't Ring', the drop is just PERFECT, the very punchy sidechain used really gives it the funkiness it was needing!!!

Long Beach:

Track is really good! The Klique sample with the filtered chords really give a funky vibe mashed up!

I personally prefer the demo version over the released one since it's more punchy but they're both great!

Mount Helicon:

This track has an overall really happy vibe and a really funky second drop around the 1:36 minute mark!

I LOVE the bass / bassline on this one, it's just so perfected that it gives the track even more funkiness!

Olympic:

What else can I say???? The chords from the start are just lovely, the track really has a very nice feeling to it, the vocoder gives it the sort of emotional touch / feeling to the track with the background plucked synth, it's just amazing, truly is one of the best EP closers I've ever heard from a French House release.

Easily a 10/10 EP in my opinion, it just has the perfect amount of everything!
